Reddit's Ask Me Anything app brings AMAs to your smartphone

Reddit browsing apps litter the various mobile app stores, but if none of them are quite to your liking, you can get your daily AMA fix with Reddit's new official app by the same name. The app is available now for those running iOS, and will (likely) be available for Android users in the near future.

Because of the nature of AMAs, keeping tabs on replies and submitting your own comments can be burdensome using the Web or a reader like Baconit. The official Ask Me Anything app is an improvement over both, offering things like "ACTIVE" indicators and aggregated answered questions.

According to Reddit's Senior Vice President Ellen Pao, this move is "part of the overall goal of becoming a more mature company." She went on to say that this is a proactive step towards spurring growth for the already massive website, a step above Reddit's traditional reliance on organic growth.

Reddit's AMAs are a popular part of the site, and have attracted Q&A sessions from many well-known individuals, including Bill Gates. Whether this will be the start of more official apps is yet to be seen, but Pao was modest in stating the website's goals, saying, "We're not trying to be the be-all-end-all of every interaction users want to have on Reddit."
