Porsche Boxster Spyder packs 375hp and 180 mph top speed

Porsche has unveiled the new Boxster Spyder to the world at the New York International Auto Show. The car is the top of the line for the Boxster family and is only available with a manual transmission for weight savings and driver enjoyment according to Porsche. The Spyder has a firmer suspension than standard Boxster models and sits 20mm lower.

Porsche fits the Spyder with a 3.8L horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine producing 375 hp, which makes it the most powerful Boxster so far. The engine can push the two-seater to 60mph in 4.3 seconds and to a top speed of 180 mph. Brakes on the Boxster Spyder come from the 911 Carrera S.

Visually the car is meant to remind of the 718 Spyder from the 60s. Porsche fits the car with a manual top and to keep the car pure, both an audio system and air conditioning aren't available as standard equipment.

Both AC and a radio can be added to the car as no cost options and the entire range of Boxster audio systems is available. Porsche will have the Boxster Spyder available to purchase starting in October in the US with starting price set at $82,100.
