Peek’s tentative steps into offering lifetime service for their straightforward email messaging devices earlier this year met with sell-out success, so it comes as little surprise that the company has officially launched their first full product. $299.95 bags you a Peek Pronto and no ongoing bills, giving access to unlimited email, Exchange support, texting and more.

That compares very well with their existing Peek Pronto with a year’s service, which comes in at $229, just $70 less. As you might expect, Peek have also done the math to compare the deal to what you might pay over the course of a 24 month contract with a standard smartphone, and they reckon that will be more in line with $2,500-$3,000.
The deal is currently at number one in Amazon’s PDAs/Handhelds chart, and number 73 in electronics overall, and according to Peek the first shipment has already sold out. No word whether this is a limited-time offer, so if you’re interested then probably best to order now.

Reading through their forum, it seems like the deal is for the lifetime of the device, not your allegiance to the company. This might be the case with most lifetime deals, I don’t know. But I picked up one of their Pronto devices for free. If I’m going to shell out $300 bucks for something that can all go up in smoke when my 1-year-old throws it in the toilet, there better be some insurance past the one year warranty.

That’s an interesting point; I’ll ask Peek whether the lifetime deal is tied to a specific device.

Lauren from Peek here. To clarify, it’s guaranteed service for the lifetime of your Peek Pronto device, not the lifetime of the customer.
Our standard 1-yr warranty covers you for any device defects, but wouldn’t cover customer abuse (i.e. a drop in the toilet).
We are now offering the option to purchase additional product insurance for $50 that would cover both device defects and customer abuse for up to 1 device replacement (no time limitation).
Hope that helps!
