A new product design by Yang Hai could solve all your woes caused by horrid co-workers and you forgetting to lock your PC when leaving for a short period. The Security Ring is worn by the user and locks all of your applications when you go beyond a certain distance.

As for what purpose the base station serves other than the reference point for how far away from it you can go before everything gets locked, I do not know, if I had to propose a guess, it would be as a charger, if there is some sort of wireless tech contained within the ring. Other than RFID I can’t think of anything that could act in the described manor as this device without employing some sort of active transmitter in the ring itself.
Not only does the device have a specified function, but applying it to automation device throughout your home would be an interesting venture as well. Maybe a combination of the door lock hack previously posted and this device and you could open your front door just by getting close to it.
