Oregon Scientific is the latest company to step into the wearable activity monitor segment. The activity monitoring wearable electronics category is constantly growing with products from a number of manufacturers, including Nike with its Nike+ FuelBand offerings and many others. A new fitness band is now available from a company called Oregon Scientific called the SSmart Dynamo activity band.
The activity band is designed to help inspire users to lead a healthier life and to track fitness goals, activity, and sleep. It communicates with mobile devices using Bluetooth Smart technology. The wristband is able to track physical activity during the day, and at night it monitors sleep patterns.
The activity monitor can be customized with different color bands with available colors including black, blue, and orange. During the day the Ssmart Dynamo is able to track activity including steps, distance traveled, and calories burned. At night, it tracks rest time and sleep time.
The activity tracker has a four-color LED indicator to keep users informed of your activity level at a glance and that data can be stored for up to 14 days. Power comes from an integrated rechargeable battery good for up to two weeks of use and the fitness monitor connects to the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, and Android 4.3 or later devices equipped with Bluetooth Smart.
