Obviously smarting from the touchscreen attention paid to the O2 Joggler, Orange France are planning to bring out the Tabbee.  Unlike the Joggler, which is resolutely desk-bound, the Tabbee is a 7-inch touchscreen WiFi tablet with a battery good for 3hrs “intensive use”; that can include media viewing, internet widgets and more.

Photos, video and music can be played, either streamed or loaded from SD cards or USB memory sticks, and there are numerous internet-connected widgets that can bring weather, traffic and other information direct to the Tabbee’s homescreen.  There’s also a family messageboard function with an on-screen keyboard, and Orange include a desktop charging dock.

Journal du Geek grabbed some hands-on time with the Orange Tabbee and shot the video below.  According to the carrier, it should hit France during Q2 2009 priced at €299 (402); there’s no word on whether it’ll spread to other countries where Orange do business.
