Oculus Rift DK2 pre-orders set to ship July 14

The Oculus Rift DK2 pre-orders will begin shipping the week of July 14th, it has been announced. The information was revealed on the Oculus developers' forum yesterday evening, with the company saying it has exceeded 45,000 pre-orders for the device.

Says the company, the first round of the DK2 has already shipped from the manufacturing facility off to the distribution centers, with plans putting about 10,000 units shipping from the factory this month. Of these, says Oculus, "just over half" are expected to reach doorsteps by the end of this month.

The lucky developers set to get the very first units will be seeing them show up in about two weeks. If you've pre-ordered, you're encouraged to head on over to the Oculus Sales page and confirm that your shipping address on file is correct. Once a shipment goes out, the buyer will get a tracking number in their email.

Back in March, we got our hands on the second iteration of Oculus. With the DK2 comes a higher resolution at 1080, as well as lower latency, a boost in frame rate, and low persistence. For other Oculus VR news, hit up the related tag portal.
