Nikon D750 users warned of potential security risk

Earlier this month, the Nikon D750 became official after numerous leaks to the joy of photographers everywhere. Fast-forward a bit, and users are being warned of a potential security issue, with Nikon advising that owners need to manually change a setting in the accompanying Wi-Fi app.

It is a relatively small issue that surfaced by way of Amateur Photographer, which discovered that the Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility app for Android and iOS doesn't turn the WiFi security settings on by default. Users must manually turn it on, otherwise the network is unsecure.

Anyone could potentially connect to the unsecured network and pull down images. They raised this issue with Nikon, which suggested through a spokesperson the obvious solution: manually turn the security settings available in the app on to avoid the potential issue.

Nikon points out that its instruction manual contains information about the security settings and how to turn it on. This leaves the responsibility on those using the camera's WiFi option to make sure they fully understand the feature and how to keep their data secure.
