Netflix for Wii disc-free update now available

Netflix's update for the Nintendo Wii delivering disc-free streaming has gone live, with US Wii owners able to download the new update from the Wii Shop Channel. Until now, Netflix subscribers wanting to view streamed TV and movie content via their consoles had to slot in the Netflix disc; this update adds a new menu option to the Wii instead.

You'll obviously need a Netflix subscription in order to take advantage of the new channel, which is currently priced from $8.99 per month. Meanwhile the disc-free update for the Sony PS3 is also expected to be released sometime today.
