NEC have taken the wraps off of the MultiSync EA261WM, a 26-inch desktop LCD monitor with WUXGA resolution.  That means a full 1,920 x 1,200 resolution widescreen panel that, in the EA261WM’s case, boasts a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, 400 cd/m2 brightness and 5ms response time.  Knocking Lenovo’s 22-inch WUXGA ThinkVision L220x Wide into the proverbial cocked-hat, the NEC display takes the top spot for high-resolution.

NEC MultiSync EA261WMIts not all inches, either.  While the MultiSync bests the ThinkVision in brightness and response time, it matches its contrast ratio and 92-percent color gamut.  It also has a 4-port USB hub and the panel rotates to form one long portrait display ideal for viewing high-resolution documents.

Input is via DVI-D (supporting 720p and 1080p, and coming with an HDMI adaptor) and there are built-in speakers and a headphone jack.  NEC have also included an ECO mode that promises to reign in the EA261WM’s power requirements.

The NEC MultiSync EA261WM will ship in August 2008, priced at $679.99.
