Naim mu-so hits Apple store for High-resolution digital sound

Naim Audio have let it be known that they're aiming for the big-time with their newest wireless audio device, the mu-so, going so far as to hit Apple with the device. Landing a spot in the Apple Store and Apple online, the Naim mu-so will bring on 450 watts of power, six 75-watt digital amplifiers, and 24/bit/192kHz high-resolution music. This isn't your momma's CD player – this is digital music playback, "identical to the master tapes from the artists themselves." If that sounds familiar, it very well should. That's very similar to what Neil Young promised back in 2012.

This Naim mu-so device is no Kickstarter though – this is the real deal. Not associated with Neil Young in any way. Headed for stores, not just made into a crowdfunding project like the PonoPlayer.

The only problem with this equation is your source. Though you can connect with Spotify Connect, Bluetooth with aptX, iRadio, USB, Analog ports, and Digital inputs, you still very likely have little to no access to 24/bit/192kHz music yourself. That said, this device is said to deliver high quality sound as high a quality as you happen to have on-hand.

If you want to play your highest-quality files, the ones you downloaded from Aphex Twin this September – then you'll be good to go.

The Naim mu-so will be available from a number of "specialist" audio retailers, John Lewis, and a number of Apple Stores as well as Apple online for a cool £895. At this time USA-based distribution is not on the books.

UPDATE: Naim have sent word that they'll be hitting US audio specialists as well as Flagship Apple Stores soon. US-based pricing will sit at $1,499.
