If you were hoping to buy your next Flash memory Zune from the official Zune Store, you’re out of luck. It seems that Microsoft is taking the next logical step in getting ready for the onset of the Zune HD, and pulling their lower-memory models from their electronic shelves.

It’s a solid strategy to let current stocks filter out before the release of a new model, and it seems that Microsoft has fallen in line. You can still purchase the larger models, like the Zune 80GB and Zune 120GB from the official store, and you can still pick your colors, as well as the design that goes on the back of your personal music player.

If you’re dying to get your hands on the current generation 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB Zune, then go ahead and stop in to your local electronics retailer, or click on over to Amazon, as they still have models in stock. But, considering what’s coming, it might be a good idea to just go ahead and wait.
