Microsoft To Ship Windows Phone Mango Devices By September?

Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 Mango update is set to touchdown sometime this fall, but when exactly has remained under wraps. Now it looks like a Microsoft employee may have just inadvertently spilled the beans via Twitter. The Microsoft Imagine Cup competition Twitter account Tweeted to finalists that they would each be receiving a Windows Phone Mango handset by September.

The Microsoft Imagine Cup challenges students to use technology to address tough problems in the world and has just sent a slew of messages to announce winners. One of the messages read: "finalists ALL receive Windows Phone 7.5 Mango Release!! Each student will get the phone by September!" It's unlikely that those students will be getting pre-release devices, so we can only assume that Mango devices should hit the market by late August or early September.

Upcoming Windows Phone 7 Mango devices were shown off yesterday at Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference in Los Angeles. On stage was Corporate VP Microsoft's OEM division, Steve Guggenheimer, showing off new devices from Acer, Fujitsu, ZTE, and Samsung all already running the Mango platform.
