Ever since Tesla released their all-electric roadster their have been companies gearing up to give them some competition. It appears a company from the UK finally has a production model ready to compete.

And it does a fine job, the recharge time seems less than the Tesla, and the 0-60 time is slightly lessened. The recharge time is said to be the equivalent of “the time it takes to fill up a gas tank.”

The vehicle offers up 700 little electronic ponies and does 0-60 in a mere 4 seconds. The range, if I recollect right, is the same as the Tesla Roadster, a decent 250 miles on a full charge. Top speed is 130MPH, so if all of that sounds good to you, start saving, the bill for your Lightening GT will be approximately $300 grand! For a car that fast, that good looking, and that environmentally friendly, I would pay it in a heartbeat if I had that kind of disposable income.

Even though this vehicle looks great and has great specs, it is not reasonable for most consumers with a price tag of $300,000. I can spend less money and get a longer range with a vehicle from ZAP. I am really impressed with of most of the concepts some companies have come up with, but in order to meet my requirements and fit my budget I need to stick with something more practical like a ZAP car. It is the perfect fit for my needs.

Government should subsidize until production can offset costs. Instead of agreeing to price fixing by greedy Arab nations this electric car would be better value.
