Lego Movie trailer shows off all-star cast, stop-motion goodness

That's right, folks. An official Lego movie is coming, and it brings all sorts of nostalgic action that looks to be a flick for the whole family. Warner Bros. just released the official trailer of The Lego Movie, and it gives us a glimpse of what to expect when the movie sees a theatrical release early next year.

The movie is directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who also brought you movies such as Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street. The cast for the movie is absolutely stacked, featuring big names like Morgan Freeman, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, and Will Arnett. The move also features lesser-known, but still great cast members, such as Chris Pratt, Nick Offerman, and Elizabeth Banks.

The movie follows Emmet, who is "an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world." Emmet is then involuntarily drafted into a group crime fighters that go on a quest to take down an evil villain (you're typical movie, really). What makes the move comedically humorous that Emmet isn't prepared for the journey.

The movie features stop-motion animation, but unfortunately, it wasn't filmed using actual Lego figurines, with the film crew meticulously adjusting them after every shot. Instead, computer-generated imagery was used, and the video was given a stop-motion feel to it to make it look extra vintage and old-school.

The Lego Movie is set to release in theaters on February 7, 2014. Honestly, this makes me want to get out all of my Legos and play with them again just like I did during my childhood. Of course, I ended up selling them all off in a garage sale later in life, which was a huge mistake.
