ipodpeople2shockThat’s to say they are shocking, headphones. Apparently with the latest firmware update for the iPod Classics (v. 1.1) both the headphone jacks and iPod Dock connectors are leaking electricity. They are leaking up to 500mV of electricity which is more than enough to fry some headphones.

God knows what could get fried from the dock connector leaking electricity, I’d probably recommend you wait to get the update until this is figured out or fixed. If you already have the update, try downgrading, or be careful with what you connect to your iPod.

Other than the potential danger that an all-metal device leaking electricity causes, there are also reports of the update causing staticky tunes. So, upgrade at your own risk.
