iOS 9 will work with your old iPhone

Apple's next iPhone and iPad software tipped to focus on quality, will work on older devices. Word this week is that the next operating system suite for Apple mobile and desktop machines will be aimed at delivering a highest-quality experience to the user. Not that Apple products with iOS or OS X didn't promise this before, but this round it's suggested that every product released over the past several years will be getting onboard with the same top-notch quality experience, working well top to bottom.

Word comes from sources familiar with the subject speaking with 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman. There it's suggested that both iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 will be working with a heavy behind-the-scenes, under-the-hood optimizations presentation. Apple wants quality.

That means:

• Stability

• Performance

• Security

It also means that a number of older devices will not only have access to iOS 9, but they'll be working well with it.

It's a two-tiered sort of system, really. Many devices can run many operating systems, it's the devices running those operating systems well that counts.

The following devices are tipped to be able to work with iOS 9, and work with it efficiently.

• iPhone 4s

• iPhone 5

• iPhone 5s

• iPhone 6

• iPhone 6 Plus

• iPad mini (1st release)

• iPad mini 2

• iPad mini 3

• iPad 2

• iPad 3rd gen (last with 30-pin)

• iPad 4th gen (first with Lightning)

• iPad Air

• iPad Air 2

While not every device will have the same feature set, this operating system's focus on quality will certainly be a welcome upgrade for the masses.

Who doesn't want software that makes their device run better?
