HTC One plated in 18 karat gold launched in the UK

HTC has announced that it has launched a version of its HTC One smartphone in the UK plated in 18 karat gold on the outside. The phone is officially called the Gold HTC One and was produced to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the MOBO Awards. Only five of these goldplated smartphones exist.

One of the Gold HTC One smartphones will be given to the winner of the Best Newcomer category at the MOBO Awards. HTC is sponsoring that category at the awards show to be held in Glasgow on October 19. HTC says that each of the Gold One smartphones is valued at £2,750. Each of them is tagged on the back with a MOBO 18 logo.

The Gold HTC One is the most exclusive and expensive smartphone ever created by HTC. It was made in partnership with Goldgenie founder Laban Roomes. The front and back of the standard HTC One was plated in 18 carat gold and polished. The logo on the back is laser etched.

Other than the gold plated exterior, the Gold HTC One uses all the same hardware and offers all the same features of the standard HTC One smartphone. The device supports HTC BlinkFeed, Zoe, and features HTC BoomSound. The device runs Android for the operating system. Check out our HTC One review for information about how this smartphone performs.
