HTC One KitKat software update assured by end of January

While the world is left in shock by the fact that the Verizon version of the Motorola-made Moto X saw the Android 4.4 KitKat update before the rest of the Nexus family, HTC has assured that the HTC One will be next. They've made this re-assurance in the form of a mini-tweet and subsequent push on the idea that their 90-day promise would be met. That's 90-days after the reveal of Android 4.4 KitKat that their HTC One hero phone would be rolling smooth with the candy layout.

You'll find both the USA and greater North America as well as the UK promising that their respective HTC One units of all kinds would be getting Android 4.4 KitKat by the end of January. This would be an amazing feat given the rings they must jump through with the respective carriers of the HTC One in the USA, but given the speed at which they've updated systems thus far, we don't doubt it.

Meanwhile the Google Play Edition of the HTC One has seen the company suggesting that they've submitted their end of the software tweaks needed for Android 4.4 KitKat to Google. The ball would appear to be in Google's court on more device now than one.

HTC also suggested this week that the Verizon-carried version of the HTC Butterfly – aka the Droid DNA, will be getting Android 4.4 KitKat by the end of the first quarter of 2014. This means that they'll be seeing KitKat by the time March rolls around – we shall see!
