HTC Desire 626 gets it own set of leaks

Though HTC is naturally putting its best foot forward with its upcoming HTC One M9, and the One M9 Plus too if you believe the rumors, it hasn't forgotten fans of its more affordable Desire line. Coming on the heels of other HTC rumors is the Desire 626, unambiguously a mid-range camper that is somewhat surprisingly running on a MediaTek chip, instead of the usual lower range Qualcomm lines. Don't let that fact discourage you, though, especially if you're an avid, or addicted, selfie taker.

That's because the Desire 626 sports a 13 megapixel camera at the back and a big 5 megapixel camera up front. Not exactly the high sensor of the Desire EYE or the UltraPixel camera of the Desire 826, but nonetheless quite formidable for a mid-range product. It's interesting to observe that these are starting to become the new baseline for the next generation mid-tier devices.

There are actually said to be two variants of the Desire 626. The "higher" one has a 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6572 processor and 2 GB of RAM. While a "CU model" gets a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, the 64-bit kind, and 1 GB of RAM. The rest of the specs are the same, with a 5-inch 720p HD screen, 16 GB of storage, and a 2,000 mAh battery. The leak notes that the smartphone will come with only Android 4.4 installed but an Android Lollipop update will be available later.

The HTC Desire 626 will most likely be unveiled with, and perhaps overshadowed by, the One M9 and One M9 Ultra, all this coming MWC 2015. That seems to be pretty much HTC's roster for March, though we still have to hear more details about the smartwatch that the OEM will also supposedly unveil there, probably as part of its new found friendship with Under Armor.
