Ocean comes with 15 free ringtones. I’ve been getting a lot of questions whether the rings are any good. Well it is hard to say since everyone’s taste differs. That is why I made this very blurred out video, but with good sound quality for you to listen to these rings for yourself.

Which ones are your favorites?

  1. Dingaling
  2. I’m Callin’
  3. Space Dragon
  4. The Federation
  5. Silky Sky
  6. Circle & Circle
  7. Hip Hop 2005
  8. Monk
  9. Minuet for Baby
  10. Samadhi
  11. Rainyday
  12. China Cruising
  13. Karma
  14. Trill Harmonic
  15. Hypnosis

Alternatively, you can purchase video rings for $2.99 or ringtones for $2.49 right on the Ocean.

Sample video of a video ring - how would you like to have the sexy Vida Guerra in a bikini telling you to pick up the phone?

ha wow those were all obnoxious/terrible except for “The Federation.” Oh well I really don’t care about ring tones, I have it on silent/vibrate probably 2/3rd’s of the time.

I rarely use ringtones - like yourself my phone is usually on vibrate. I hate to be “that one guy” with the hideous ringtones in a crowed restaurant or church :).

The new Ocean’s launched on Friday, and I came across a promotional code to save some serious green when you go to buy it.

    ==> $75 off the $295 pricetag
    ==> $30 Activation Fee waived
==> $25 off first four months of service ($100 total)

Go to the Helio website and use the promo code B2BDGOD

I ordered my Ocean on Friday and got it this morning… and it’s awesome!

    actually,

i just ordered one with this code and i called sales support to confirm the 4 months of $25 off and they also throw in a $50 amex gift card. so, total discounts $255!

does anyone know if this promotional code still works? i will be ordering my helio ocean this week and that would be great to save that kind of dough. :)

I just ordered an Ocean direct from Helio, used the promo code above and it worked! Thanks Michael Stark (and David Garza) for saving me big money.

Great review here, thanks for all the detailed info. But the final straw which got me to pull the trigger on this was when I read on Gizmodo about how easily Helio lets you switch handsets on the fly. I wanted the powerful email and search features of the Ocean, but when I’m out at night, talking to the ladies, I don’t always want to have to explain that large bulge in my pocket. :)

So if I like the Helio service, I plan to acquire a Heat sometime down the line so I can change into something more sleek and sexy for a night on the town.

I would love to journal my experience with Helio in the last 10 days. I purchased the device last Monday (11 days ago), received it last Thursday (7 days ago) and still am not activated.

I am forwarding my previous Suncom (Triton-PCS) phone number to Helio (Port Forwarding) and it has been a nightmare.

I believe I have important info that would help anyone in the future trying to transfer their number from another carrier.

And I want to rant (about the hell I have been through) and rave (about my new device). Even un-activated, it is definitely the coolest.

Please reply if this is the appropriate place to report my findings.

    1. crop your desired mp3 to a size that is under 1000kb
    2. use the command prompt to rename your desired mp3 file extension to mmf.
    rename ring.mp3 ring.mmf
    3. email the file to yourself using one of the email clients available on the ocean
    4. download the file onto your ocean and save as a ringtone
    5. enjoy

Thanks for all the info you guys! I’m switching from T-Mobile and I hope the whole port thing works out okay. The only thing I don’t like so far is that the web-site does not say anything about a contract, but when I called, they told me that it would be a 2 year. Sounds like it is worth it though.

I purchased a Helio phone about 6 months ago. I have had nothing but PROBLEMS since….. I’m finally at the point where I’M DONE!!!! I’ve to decided to just pay the fee to terminate my contract and move on. Now I ‘m having a problem doing that! I have had my number for like 6 years. I have moved to different companies and taken my number with me. Now that I want to move from Helio, I’m being told that I can’t take my number with me. I’m am PISSED and I will take this to end until I get a resolution. They didn’t give me the number, so how can they claim rights to it???? I know that the law REQUIRES porting, therefore, I am ready to file a complaint and even take it to court if I have to. If they accepted my number and didn’t assign it to me in the first place how can they decide to keep it???? Any suggestions????

    Hello All:

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to you, Marie.

BOY! Was it HELL getting my number ported over…. and all it was, after all the heck I went through, ONE MUST ASK SUNCOM TO UNLOCK the phone. Apparantly there was a security lock on my account that prevented it from being forwarded.

Customer Service: Through the ridiculous porting fiasco, I connected with a GREAT customer service rep, who has been my PERSONAL REP for the last 1.5 years. I would not have been able to survive my experiences without him. He has a MySpace which you can find here http://www.myspace.com/oksera (He is THE COOLEST HELIO PERSON I KNOW). Say hi! And take a listen to his music while you are at it!

    Reviews on my phone:

Thank you to the fella that gave the extensive RINGTONE tutorial… AWESOME! It sure has been fun hearing MY OWN TUNES for my ringtones. I already had a WAV Editor and just remember don’t bother making the ringtone longer than 20 seconds (the phone only plays 20 seconds) even if you made the ringtone longer.

I love my phone. It is so cool!

Despite my HORRIBLE transitioning experience, the rest has been groovy.

Oh! EXCEPT when you are late on your bill, then you get a phone call from JAMAICA> and if you do, be sure to ask for PIERRE! (He is manager and oh so nice). Tell’m Jeannie sent you! hahaha
