Ocean is immediately available for $295 at Helio retail stores in Santa Monica, Palo Alto, San Diego, Denver and NYC, as well as via helio.com or 1-888-88-HELIO. GameStop/EB Games will start offering Ocean next week, all other authorized retailers will start selling it shortly after.

Helio Ocean

Remember that Ocean is more than a phone and not just any QWERTY handset. With Ocean, you get voice, IM, text, email, search, music, video and the speed of 3G. Running over Sprint’s nationwide high-speed 3G network, you will enjoy a boatload of services like over-the-air music downloads, and video on demand. Ocean’s other features include a 2.0 megapixel high-resolution camera, an HTML browser, GPS-enabled Google Maps for mobile, Buddy Beacon, first-of-its-kind full Web search from the device home screen, integration of IM presence into the address book, GPS tagging of photos and videos, MySpace on Helio and much, much more.

It’s also the first dual-slider combing a traditional numeric keypad and a separate full QWERTY keyboard in a single device.

Helio offers unlimited voice plan called All-In memberships for $145/month with unlimited voice minutes, unlimited data like text messages, picture messages, 3G network access and Helio services. Unlimited voice is also available with A La Carte membership for $125/month with pay-as-you-use data charges.

NOTE: Helio is subsidizing the MSRP for new members, so $295 is the price for them. Existing members have already received a subsidized device, so your cost is the full MSRP - $415.

If you haven’t done so, make sure to check out my thorough review of the Ocean or vist Helio for more info on Ocean.

as far as i know the $295* price is only avaliable with the hook up of new service, and its normal msrp is $415 if you just want the phone.

ohh and also scandisk makes or is coming out with 4gb micro sd cards(just thought that would be nice to know since you can use micro sd in the ocean).

i think Ocean max out at 2GB support - will need to look into the support for the 4GB.

Ocean alone without Helio service renders it useless. It is $295 for new or existing customers.

no .. 415 for existing, as the website reads… and 295 for new memberships.

at least that is how it is displayed on helio’s site.

The ringtones thing and no gtalk (yet) kill me, but the GPS-google maps integration has got my mouth watering. How much can the idle search be customized? It’d be great if you could somehow get GPS and Google local working to do a quick search of say, “italian restaurants” within a 5 block radius of your current location.

Also any word on accessories like holsters?

Thanks for all the helio updates.

I’m getting confirmation and should hear back shortly it. $415 sounds high and existing loyal customers shouldn’t have to pay more for ANY reasons.

Gtalk is coming…just not available at launch - so don’t let that be your deciding factor. Ringtones, how often are you going change your rings? Find one you like at the Helio store and buy it…not a big deal. GPS-google Map integration kicks butt and should be in all future mobile devices (in my opinion).

No word on accessories yet - but i promise to keep everyone up to date as soon as I know.

here’s the official word on the cost of Ocean for new and existing customers:

Helio is subsidizing the MSRP for new members, so $295 is the price for them. Existing members have already received a subsidized device, so their cost is the full MSRP - $415.

The lady told me, she can do this for existing members….Lets say your contract has you paying the 20th of every month…she’ll just move your contract to today (may 11th) instead of the 20th, and you will pay only 295 plus a discount if you pay with Visa….she also suggested if you dont want to tamper with your Contract, wait till carriers such as FYE/Gamestop etc have it, they will have great deals for existing members/non-members…….I remember buying my Hero without being a member and got 100$ instant rebate for their promotion, so i paid like 170 for the phone.

EB Games and Gamestop website has them for pre-order, same at their stores….So if your an existing member your best bet is there….295.00 like everyone else, maybe even some kind of discount for promotion…..This way you can buy the phone, call helio and activate on your current Contract, that should work right? I hope their not anal about shit like that, cuz i know if you buy it you dont have to buy a contract on the spot just to buy the phone…i think

I love, love , love my Helio Ocean. I had it for a month now and it is almost perfect. I only wish that it could have had same features as my Helio Drift where it has a photo shop. I guess it is not as bad cause I could changed my devices anytime I wanted to.
