Google Calendar app updated with pinch-to-zoom, 7-day view

Google released a new version of their Google Calendar app for Android. There made some small adjustments and tweaks after receiving feedback on their earlier versions. The previous version had taken away the ability to view week by week. The update brings back a 7-day view and introduces a pinch-to-zoom function. You can also elect to show the week's numbers on a 7-day view. They have updated the assist feature that helps you organize your calendar more quickly by creating titles and suggestions for events.

While not an improved feature, Google Calendar's app retains the ability to connect all your Gmail events and add them to your calendar automatically. So now when you get an email confirming your restaurant reservation, it can sync with your Google Calendar. This cross-functional ability works for any events notified by email like flights, hotels, and conferences too.

There is a new ability to add Google Drive files to events too. The app can also verify if everyone included in the event can actually open the Drive file. There are a lot of possible ways to use this new feature. You could post an illustrated invitation to the event, which eliminates the need to make a separate evite. You could also send a list of what to bring for your next camping trip or a prepared presentation to your work team before you meet to discuss it.

The latest Google Calendar for iOS isn't quite ready yet. So iOS users will have to wait while Android users get the first look at this improved Google Calendar.
