Flipkart teases Moto Maxx for India

If you haven't let the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 or HTC One M9 fill your mind just yet, you might remember one of Motorola's more interesting 2014 smartphones. No, it's not the new Moto X and not even the Nexus 6. It's the DROID Turbo, which goes by another name as well, the Moto Maxx. It is the latter that might be coming to India all the way from Latin America, giving smartphone users there an intriguing yet enticing smartphone option, even with the new flagships on the horizon.

Nominally, the new Moto X is Motorola's flagship, yet it was immediately overshadowed by two other products. In just a few months, the larger and slightly more powerful Nexus 6 came on the scene. And not long after that, the Verizon-exclusive DROID Turbo arrived, combining the high-end specs of the Nexus 6 with the smaller size of the Moto X. That was not the end of it, however, as the DROID Turbo eventually became available in Latin America as the Moto Maxx.

The Moto Maxx has almost every feature to drool over. A still handy 5.2-inch QHD screen, a 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805, 3 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, a 21 megapixel dual LED rear camera, a huge 3,900 mAh battery and Motorola's Turbo Charging feature. Compared to what we're expecting to come next week, the Moto Maxx probably only loses out on the processor, but the jury is still out on how well the Snapdragon 810 will perform in the real world. You can read up on our review of the DROID Turbo, which is also the Moto Maxx, to get an idea about the smatphone.

This is the same Moto Maxx that Indian e-tailer Flipkart might be teasing. Granted, it isn't exactly naming the device, but "Moto beast", "Turbocharged", and "Realistic Nylon Fairing" practically identify it as such. Sadly, no date or price yet to speak of.

If the Moto Maxx is indeed coming to India, it could be an important milestone. It marks the smartphone's availability outside of it initial market in Latin America. One can only hope that it will be making its way to other markets, like the US, soon and those who have no care for Samsung's or HTC's smartphones might still be waiting for this one. That is, if they haven't gone out and bought it from somewhere already.
