DreamTab 8 tablet for kids packs Tegra 4

The market is full of tablets aimed at kids, but many of them sport hardware that is less than notable aimed at very casual Web use and simple apps. The latest slate from Fuhu nabi is different, bringing with it, among other things, a Tegra 4 quad-core processor.

The DreamTab 8 is an 8-inch slate featuring a Full HD resolution capacitive touch display. Under the hood lies a Tegra 4 quad-core 1.6GHz processor and 2GB of RAM, as well as 16GB of internal storage space and a microSD card expansion slot.

There is both a front and rear camera offering 2MP and 5MP, respectively, accompanied by 802.11a/b/g/n dual-band WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. An integrated microphone, 4500mAh battery, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean round out the specs.

The operating system is tailored towards children, and comes loaded with things like the Treasure Box mobile app store designed for children. There's Nabi Play for streaming videos, and Nabi Web for surfing the Internet without risk.

The slate is currently available from Target and Walmart for $269 USD.
