ASUS have confirmed the UK launch date for their Eee PC 1008HA "Shell", a week after stores began taking preorders for the super-slim netbook.  According to the company, May 15th will be the first day the 1008HA will be officially available, with an MRSP of £379 ($572).

The netbook has a 10-inch LED-backlit display running at 1024 x 600, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N280 processor and 1GB of memory, together with a 160GB hard-drive, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.  Its headline feature is its scant thickness, around an inch at its widest point when closed, and it weighs around 1.1kg.  That's in no small part down to ASUS using a non-user-removable battery pack, which the company claim is good for up to six hours use.

The 1008HA has previously passed the FCC, paving the way for a US launch, although no official release schedule has been made public as yet.  Retailers such Amazon UK and Dabs UK are currently taking preorders.
