ASUS’ Eee PC 1000HV has been benchmarked, putting its discrete ATI Radeon HD 3450 graphics to the test.  Based on the same Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz processor as the 1000HE, the 1000HV uses its graphical grunt well: it racks up a CrystalMark R3 score of 37,430 versus the 1000HE’s 28,923.

Benchmark breakdown after the cut

The 1000HV particularly shines in its OpenGL performance, the Radeon HD pushing it ahead to 10,564, far better than the sub-1,000 scores most netbooks rack up.  All benchmarking was performed with the Eee PC Syper Hybrid Engine (SHE) in “Super Performance” mode, which pushes the processor to its maximum performance.

We’re still waiting to see whether the ASUS Eee PC 1000HV will go on sale outside of Italy.  It’s on sale there for €449 ($624) with a 6-cell battery good for up to 5hrs runtime, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard-drive.

While the discrete graphics are a welcome addition I’d also like to see Asus including an HDMI output so we could make full use of the expanded potential!
