Are there two Nexus devices coming this Fall from Google?

There is a lot of discussion about Apple's two new iPhones, where we are almost certainly getting a 4.7-inch screen, then a 5.5-inch model later on. There is another hotly anticipated product lineup coming out this Fall, though, in Google's Nexus. We've heard a bit about the Motorola Shamu being the new Nexus, but could you handle two Nexus smartphones?

You might have to, if sources are correct. There has been a lot of chatter about the new Nexus, which is expected to check in at 5.9-inches and have the usual top-end spec sheet we've come to expect from the brand. Another device has been tossed around as well — a 5.2-inch device with similar (though not quite as good) specs.

Sources "close to the supply chain" tell Phone Arena there will be two Nexus phones, but it hinges on we the consumer. This all circulates around the incoming Moto X+1, which is the 5.2-inch device in the mix. Sources say Google and Motorola will gauge interest in that device before deciding which way they want to go with a second Nexus.

The Nexus X is widely believed (pretty much proven, really) to be a 5.9-inch monster. If we recap a bit, we see there are two Moto-made devices here: one the Moto X+1, and one the Nexus X.

The larger Nexus will likely sell pretty well, but there will be quite a few who simply don't want a 6-inch screen. A 5.2-inch screen is a much better option for many, so if that Moto X+1 doesn't fly off shelves, Google may just repurpose them as Nexus devices, according to these sources.

Then again, it makes much more sense for Google to offer a Moto X+1 as a Google Play edition device rather than a Nexus offering, but time will tell what ends up happening. For now, we look forward to another late-October release for the Nexus devices, and massive Play Store traffic once one or both of these devices comes available.
