A recent change Apple made to its AppleCare+ plans now allows device owners to get their gadgets serviced when traveling abroad, something previously unavailable to those unfortunate enough to have a malfunctioning device while on vacation or business. Under the change, owners can now get servicing in any location where AppleCare+ is available.
With this new change, Apple device owners can take their iPad, iPhone, or other gadget and have it serviced in a country other than the one where the owner resides — assuming AppleCare+ has been purchased, obviously. This is far more convenient than the previous restriction of having the servicing done in the region where AppleCare+ was purchased.
Under these new terms and conditions, AppleCare+ customers will be covered in Canada, China, Austria, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Switzerland. There are some limitations in place, however, for practicality reasons.
Any local rules for AppleCare+ service will apply in the region where the device is serviced, even if it is different in the country where the service was purchased. Likewise, some locations will be unable to perform certain types of servicing, such as the inability to work on specific types of devices in places where they are not available.
