Apple videos show what Apple Watches are made of

So Apple has finally released the final, or semi-final, details of the Apple Watch and many are probably left drooling over the smartwatches, or maybe fainting at the price tags. But if you're any sort of a design conscious user, you might just as well be interested in the thought and process that went into crafting this amalgamation of technology and art. Luckily for you, Apple has just released some videos that briefly explain the materials used in making the smartwatches, hopefully leaving you drooling again over such fine materials.

The Apple Watch Sport edition might be the cheapest of the group, but that's not to say that Apple skimped on its build and design. In order to keep things sturdy yet light, Apple looked to aluminum for answers. But it's not just any aluminum alloy, mind you. The company employs a special type that is claimed to be 60 percent stronger yet just as light as your standard aluminum alloy.

When it comes to durability, stainless steel is the name of the game. But, of course, here Apple would give the material its unique touch. Using a specialized cold-forging process, Apple is able to harden the material up to 80 percent more, making sure that the Apple Watch is impervious at least to usual bumps and scratches. That same premium material and quality manufacturing process goes beyond just the watch itself and extends even to the stainless steel bands.

And when you speak of premium material, there is perhaps nothing more premium than gold, which is exactly what the most luxurious and most expensive Apple Watch Edition makes use of. The 18k solid gold, both in yellow and rose gold variants, are claimed to be twice as hard as standard solid gold. An interesting deviation from the previous two manufacturing processes is the fact that the molten gold is molded not into the shape of the smartwatch directly but first into solid ingots which are then compressed into billets, which are then later machined to their final forms.
