Android 2.1 plus HTC Sense ROM leaks

Remember the leaked screenshots of Android 2.1 complete with HTC Sense running on the esteemed Hero?  Well now you could recreate that yourself, thanks to a leaked Hero 2.1 Eclair ROM over at xda-developers.  The software is classed as alpha, which means you probably don't want to necessarily trust your everyday Android handset with it; for instance, there's no Google synchronization support right now.

There's also no WiFi support, which could be a deal-breaker for many.  Fixes are apparently incoming - the sync problem has already been solved, it's just not been rolled into a new ROM yet - and given the software has only been out for a matter of hours it's very much early days.

HTC are tipped to be preparing this update - officially, of course - for a release around the end of 2009, bypassing Android 2.0 altogether.  More screenshots here; now is anyone brave enough to try this out themselves?
