European set-top box manufacturer Amino Communications has announced that it has demonstrated its newest IPTV box that is running the Intel Atom Sodaville CE 4100 processor. The CE4100 was unveiled back during IDF and is designed specifically for set-top box use.

The company offers no images or model numbers for the new set-top boxes using the CE4100 platform, but says that the new boxes will be perfect for hybrid over-the-top services. The new Intel processor platform allows the boxes to deliver IPTV and a full open Internet experience to create new opportunities for network operators and service providers to enhance experiences for customers.

Between the marketing speak that means that the new box will let us gain access to new cool features. The processor can support multistream video decoding and has hardware processing. The platform also supports dual channel 800MHz DDR2 or 1333MHz DDR3 RAM.
