Zhongyi S101 MID gets hands-on

The unnamed Chinese MID spotted back in March with a nifty pocket docking station has now been identified, as the Zhongyi S101 (no relation to the ASUS netbook of the same name).  The S101 has a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, Marvel PXA 628MHz processor and 128MB of RAM, and runs a Linux OS with Firefox, IM apps and PMP functionality.

There's also a 1.3-megapixel webcam, Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi, while the docking "MID Expansion" section adds an ethernet port, USB host port (for using a keyboard or mouse, etc.), VGA output and a headphone socket.  The Zhongyi S101 also has integrated 3G, with a SIM card living underneath the back panel.

Engadget China got some hands-on time with the S101 and came away impressed with build-quality, the range of preloaded apps and the connectivity.  Sadly, while it looks like it's getting a launch in China, there's still no sign of any availability in the US or Europe.
