Windows Phone 7 Getting Copy & Paste and Multitasking in January Rumor Suggests

Microsoft kick-started the week with the launch announcement for Windows Phone 7, and while it may not have been a keynote for the announcement, Microsoft came clean on when we could expect an update that would bring Copy & Paste to the mobile Operating System. While early 2011 may not be early enough for some, it's better than nothing. And now, according to some tweets from @MS_nerd, it looks like that update may come in January.

With the announcement that Copy & Paste would be landing on Windows Phone 7 handsets some time in the first half of 2011, with no precise date to focus on, there was more than enough room to speculate when customers should expect the update. What made it worse, though, were the whispers suggesting that the update could include more than just bug fixes and Copy & Paste, but that it would also include other must-have features. This new rumor suggests that the update in January will indeed include Copy & Paste, but it will also bring Turn-by-Turn navigation in Bing Maps to Windows Phone 7 devices, as well as multitasking.

The "multitasking" will apparently be implemented through Hub integration only for the near future, and apparently it will work a lot like "app switching." While multitasking is a must-have for some consumers, if not most of them, it will all depend on how Microsoft implements the feature on the handsets. We know that the update is coming, but we don't know when. While rumors may be suggesting we won't have long to wait into 2011, we'll just have to wait until an official announcement from Microsoft is made before we can really start getting excited.
