Windows 10 Game Mode confirmed for Creators Update

Microsoft has confirmed that the formerly rumored Game Mode will be arriving in Windows 10 with the Creators Update. This Game Mode will, says the company, start appearing in part for Windows Insiders this week, though the fully operational version will take a bit longer to show up. When used, Game Mode will improve a PC's performance specifically for gaming.

Microsoft confirmed the news today, but unfortunately didn't go into any sort of substantial details, saying instead that it'll have more info once Game Mode goes through more testing.

"Our vision is for Game Mode to optimize your Windows 10 PC for increased performance in gaming," said Xbox head of platform engineering Mike Ybarra. "This is a big update for Windows; we're looking forward to Insiders getting their hands on this new feature for further testing..."

According to Ybarra, Windows Insiders will start seeing "visual elements" related to Game Mode this week, and the rest of the necessary components for full operation will arrive "shortly thereafter." In addition to the improved gaming performance, we can expect to see the Creators Update also focus on streaming, competition, and people.
