WiiConnect - The open source way to turn your mobile phone into a portable gaming unit

Do you like playing games on your Wii? I'm sure if you have one that you do. However, for those that either don't want to cough up the dough, or can't get their hands on one, they don't know the fun they are missing. Thanks to a team at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg, Austria,  you only need a Wiimote and a phone to enjoy the same experience.

Granted, you have to have a specific type of phone, namely an S60 Third Edition. A quick Google search will tell you if your's is compatible. Anywho, these guys have developed a little piece of software they like to call WiiConnect. It is essentially a Bluetooth driver for S60 phones. This driver will allow you to play games through your phone using a Wiimote. If you've got a way to output the video from your phone, you've got yourself a pretty cool gaming machine.

Of course, you'll need some games. That same team has already created one called WiiRider which is a motorcycle game for your phone. You'll hold your Wiimote like the handlebar of a motorcycle and turn the controller for throttle and move it left and right for movement. The best part? It's all free.
