Wii Remains King In The Japanese Market, Outsold PS3 6-To-1 Last Month
It's no secret that the Japanese market is a hot one for video games and consoles. However, despite the great sales of games and consoles in general, the PS3 isn't selling too hot. They have yet to sell a million units yet.
What is even more interesting is that although it launched almost a month before the Wii, it has sold barely a third of the units that Nintendo has been able to move. I really don't think that it's any fault of Sony, or that the PS3 isn't a great machine, but rather that the Japanese market is in love with the Wii.
Since its release in December of last year, the Xbox 360 has only managed to sell a whopping 330,000 units. Sony seems to be holding steady in second place in the Japanese market, but I doubt that they will catch up to Nintendo any time soon. Last month the Wii outsold the PS3 6-to-1 with around 270,000 versus Sony's 42,000. The Xbox 360 barely even registered on the charts with 17,000.
