Waze Audio Player gets support for Deezer streaming service on Android

In October, navigation app Waze launched an in-app audio player with support for a handful of popular audio sources. This feature is designed to provide drivers with direct access to their favorite audio content, minimizing distractions and eliminating the need to toggle between apps. In its most recent update, the company has added Android support for the music streaming service Deezer.

The Waze Audio Player launched with support for Pandora, Spotify, Scribd, TuneIn, Stitcher, NPR, iHeartRadio, and Deezer, but the catch was that iOS and Android had different support. The iOS version of the app didn't support the TuneIn, Pandora, or NPR services when the Audio Player first arrived, and the Android version didn't include support for Deezer.

The Deezer support has finally arrived in the Android version of Waze, enabling users who have the service's app downloaded on their device to access it within the navigation app's Audio Player feature. The service will be listed alongside other supported, installed audio products and can be accessed by tapping its round icon.

The Audio Player can be used by tapping a small magenta-colored icon on the navigation screen; it's easy to spot due to its large musical note image. When tapped, a menu appears that contains a horizontal ribbon with audio service icons. Users can swipe through this ribbon to see what is available.

Tapping on a service icon launches the Audio Player. Basic controls, such as pausing and skipping a track, are provided within this player, plus there's a limited ability to change which content is playing. Users also have the option to open the full music app if they need direct access to other features.
