ASUS Eee PC 1008HA "Shell" clears FCC

The ASUS Eee PC 1008HA "Shell" netbook has passed through the FCC, on the way to what we hope is an imminent release in the US.  Announced at CeBIT back in March, the Eee PC 1008HA is an ultra-thin 25.7mm netbook with an Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz processor, 160GB hard-drive and 1GB of RAM.

As for its FCC certification, that's for the 1008HA's WiFi b/g/n chipset; the netbook will also have Bluetooth, together with optional UMTS/HSDPA or WiMAX connectivity.  Not bad for something that weighs just 1.1kg despite the 10-inch 1024 x 600 display and predicted 5hr runtime.

No official pricing for the US ASUS Eee PC 1008HA has been announced, but we're expecting to see the "Shell" go for around £359 in the UK.  That would work out to a roughly $511 in the US.  It's expected to hit Europe this month.
