Viliv X70 UMPC shaping up to beat its S5 sibling

From a web tablet render to one almost on the market.  Viliv's X70 UMPC may have only half the screen size of the CrunchPad, but it's capable of a whole lot more than simple web browsing and media playback; jkOnTheRun have followed up their first-impressions video with a more comprehensive usage report.

Right now, it looks like the X70 is edging out the S5 for usability.  The screen is, at 7-inches, obviously more capacious than the S5's 4.8-inch display, and that makes finger-use more straightforward.  It's also a thinner design than the S5, and squeezes in a webcam for Skype video calls.

Best of all, thanks to the SSD storage – this particular demo unit has a 32GB solid-state drive – it's a relatively speedy little devil; resuming from standby takes seconds, though HD YouTube or Hulu videos do show some stutter.  We're blaming the 1.33GHz Intel Atom processor for that.  Still, it's looking like a tempting device; now we just need pricing details from Viliv.
