Rue Liu - Nov 14, 2006

When speaking of ViewSonic, we think of monitors, but apparently they have ventured out into the handheld computer field as well. They have just announced the release of the three new rugged handhelds, the V38r-06, V38r-07, and V38r-07a. They are meant for a wide gamut of industries and meet IP54 design standards for sealing against dust, mositure, and extreme environmental conditions. They sport 3.5-inch 240×320 LCD displays, 520MHZ Intel Xscale processor, SD card slot, and hot swappable Lithium Ion batteries, meaning they wont shutdown or lose data when changing batteries. The premier models V38r-07 and 07a also feature 802.11b/g wireless, Bluetooth, barcode scanner, 1.3 megapixel camera, fingerprint sensor, and GPS support. Price ranges from $1,600 to $2000.
