Verizon Nexus 7 (2013) arrives February 13th, activations in tow

Just this morning a set of photos of the box for the Verizon version of the Nexus 7 were leaked, now here in the afternoon we're seeing the real deal. Verizon will be releasing the Nexus 7 (2013) starting on the 13th of February where the device will be available for the cool $349.99 online and in real-life store locations. This price is off-contract, while attached to a 2-year contract the device will cost $249.99 USD – placing it in a rather interesting place amongst the rest of the Verizon-bound tablets today.

It does not appear that this device will be offered up for sale through Google Play like the rest of the Nexus 7 iterations. That's the AT&T version, the T-Mobile version – both shipped with SIM cards inside – and the GSM version. Here we're seeing the Verizon version sticking with the Verizon store itself, both online and in-person.

UPDATE: it would appear that previously purchased Nexus 7 (2013) models will now be able to activate their tablets on the network as well.

"Users who have already purchased the Nexus 7 (2013 model) will also be able to activate their device on the Verizon Wireless network after they download the latest software update." – Albert Aydin for Verizon

The Verizon version of the Nexus 7 works with Google's software inside. This means that there will be no Verizon apps right out of the box, but that there will be a "Nexus" build of Android 4.4 KitKat. This is the same build that every other Nexus 7 comes with, while the device has just been added to Verizon's network as right now – more than likely – appeared to be the best time for the network to release the device as the rest of their tablets have had some time to settle.

This tablet has a 7.02-inch display with 1920 x 1200 pixels across it, that's classified as 1080p, working with IPS LCD technology behind a panel of scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. This device has dual stereo speakers with surround sound "powered by Fraunhofer." You'll have the ability to purchase all the Nexus 7 accessories already offered for the device as well since this model is the exact same size as all the rest – they all fit!
