Verizon launching HomeFusion residential 4G LTE this week

Verizon's 4G LTE wireless connectivity will soon be an option for residential broadband. The company will be launching a new HomeFusion service that will leverage its 4G LTE wireless network to bring high-speed connectivity to residential customers, which will be especially welcome to those living in areas with limited broadband choices. The service will be available starting Thursday, May 3, kicking off nationwide (230 markets), which covers two-thirds of the US population.

The HomeFusion Broadband service requires a cylinder-shaped antenna to be attached to a customer's home. The antenna actually houses multiple internal antennae to pick up the best Verizon 4G LTE signals and then transmits that signal to a broadband router that's placed inside the home. That router can connect up to four wired and at least 20 wireless devices via WiFi.

Real world connectivity speeds range from 5 to 12 Mbps downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps uplink. There are three basic plans but all require a new two-year service agreement. You have the option of a 10GB monthly data allowance for $60 per month, 20GB for $90, and 30GB for $120. New customers will receive 50 percent more data allowance in the first two full billing cycles, but overages after that will be charged $10 for each additional 1GB. There's also a one-time $199.99 installation and equipment charge.
