Verizon launches UMW190 USB world modem

There are lots of mobile phones on the market that tout their ability to operate on networks all around the world. I don't hear nearly as much about USB modems that are able to operate on global phone networks.Verizon has announced a new modem called the UMW190 USB modem that promises to give the user a 3G Internet connection on networks around the world. The modem operates on dual-band CDMA/Tri-Band UMTS/HSPA and quad-band GSM providing global connectivity.

Verizon says that the modem will be in its stores later this month for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year agreement. Other features of the modem include a pre-installed sim card, a sliding cover, compatibility with Windows, and a visual status indicator. A USB extension cable is also included with the modem.
