Verizon Galaxy S10 5G pre-orders start next week

There's no stopping 5G and it's really only a question of when and on what phone. The actual nationwide rollout of the next-gen cellular network isn't expected until next year, or later this year at the earliest, but that doesn't mean you can't start preparing for it this month. That, of course, means getting a brand new, 5G-compatible phone of which the Galaxy S10 5G will be one of the first to land on shelves, starting with Verizon.

AT&T may have called dibs on rolling out 5G to some consumers, but some question its definition and implementation of 5G. That, however, doesn't even consider the fact that this AT&T 5G network requires you to use a hotspot rather than something directly. Of course, that's mostly because actual 5G phones haven't yet arrived back then.

Starting April 18, however, the first 5G phone will be available for pre-order on Verizon. The carrier and Samsung have teamed up to offer the first mobile 5G experience to consumers. That is, presuming they're in one of the very few cities where Verizon rolled out the service.

The Galaxy S10 5G, however, is more than just about 5G. It is also the biggest of the four Galaxy S10 models that Samsung unveiled last February. It is also the only one with four cameras, the third being a 3D depth sensor.

That said, consumers are probably going to buy this phone really for its 5G capabilities, especially considering its price. Those on networks other than Verizon will have to wait later this year to get their chance to grab a Galaxy S10 5G.
