Valve head says Apple meeting never took place

We talked a few times now about rumors that pegged Apple CEO Tim Cook at Valve for some sort of meeting. The head of valve, Gabe Newell, has now come out and said that meeting never happened. The announcement comes during a podcast with Seven Day Cooldown. Apparently, the rumor was so factual that even Newell was confused.

The funniest part about this whole thing is that Newell admits that he even fell for the rumor. Newell says that when the rumor surfaced, he and other people at Valve were e-mailing each other trying to figure out whom Cook was meeting with. When rumors even fool the people allegedly part of the meeting, you know they are good ones.

Newell goes on to say that, he has never met with Tim Cook, but that he would love to. I think a lot gamers would like to see Apple take gaming on the Mac more seriously. The full podcast should be available online soon.

We actually, we all sent mail to each other, going, "Who's Tim Cook meeting with? Is he meeting with you? I'm not meeting with Tim Cook." So we're... it's one of those rumors that was stated so factually that we were actually confused.

No one here was meeting with Tim Cook or with anybody at Apple that day. I wish we were! We have a long list of things we'd love to see Apple do to support games and gaming better. But no, we didn't meet with Tim Cook. He seems like a smart guy, but I've never actually met him.
