Valve confirm they've left PS3 for dead

Threatening or generally thumbing your nose at Sony seems to be an increasingly common pastime for developers, as the latest to climb on board is perennial PS3 cynic Gabe Newell of Valve.  Interviewed for GameTrailers TV, Newell was asked by host Geoff Keighley whether the studio was currently working on PS3 title development, only to shoot the possibility down in no uncertain terms.

Keighley: Are you guys working on PlayStation 3 here now, trying to understand it, trying to get better at it?

Gabe: Uh,no. Not in any real way.

Newell also commented on the online petitions calling for a boycott of Left 4 Dead 2, attempting to reassure gamers that Valve are not abandoning the games predecessor.  In fact, Valve have just released a new add-on pack, and are promising that the communities would be linked together as soon as possible.

Back in June, Activison CEO Bobby Kotick threatened to boycott Sony gaming platforms if the company did not reduce royalty fees and change its stance on console price cuts.  Sony CEO Howard Stringer later referred to the comments as "a lot of noise".
