USBduo cable features integrated card reader, wooden ends

As the number of gadgets that complement our daily lives grow, consolidated devices that serve more than one function become increasingly attractive. The USBduo cable is one such device, and it aims to cut down on the number of dongles and card readers you tote around. At its core, USBduo is a USB cable with a microUSB end. Under its sleeve (or wooden block, in this case) are a couple hidden treats, as well, such as a micro SD card reader.

The USBduo has reversible USB connectors, can connect to a flash drive rather than a computer or tablet, and can be used to get content from a micro SD card. This allows users to leave the extra card reader or other contraptions at home, assuming they only need to interact with one device at a time.

USBduo also features an attractive design, standing out amongst the loads of basic black and white cables. The cable itself is white, and adorning each end are small wood blocks. Four different types of wood are used: maple, oak, bamboo, and black walnut. In addition, the cable will also be available in two lengths: 11.8-inches and 39.4-inches.

Neoya Team, the folks behind the USBduo, is looking to fund the cable through Kickstarter, where they are hoping to raise $20,000 USD in funding and have thus far raised nearly $2,500. The project has just gotten under way with 49 days remaining — the Super Early Bird unit will require a pledge of $20, and will ship out in June. The retail price will be $40 USD.
