Updated Eevee Evolution Guide For Pokemon GO: How To Get Leafeon, Glaceon, And The Rest

Today we're taking a peek at how to get evolved versions of Eevee in Pokemon GO. That includes how to evolve into Leafeon, Glaceon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, and whatever other Eevolutions come next – or MOST of those things, at least. Until further evolutions of Eevee come to Pokemon GO, the ones we've listed so far are the one's we've got – we've got em all!

Eevee nicknames for evolutions

First, you're going to need to know the Eevee evolution nicknames. To start this journey off right, start with Pokemon number 133, Eevee. This is a Normal type Pokemon that'll appear pretty much anywhere around the world. Not in the middle of the ocean or the desert, mind you – but pretty much anywhere else.

The first three Eevee evolutions are Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. To evolve into each of these Pokemon, you'll need only change the name of your Eevee. Change to Rainer for Vaporeon, Sparky for Jolteon, or Pyro for Flareon. This trick will only work ONCE for each of the three first evolutions of Eevee.

The rest are a bit more complicated. Nicknames for the rest of the Eevee evolutions require more than JUST a nickname, but here they are anyway: Espeon is Sakura, Umbreon is Tamao, Leafeon is Linnea, and Glaceon is Rea. Those are, in order, Psychic, Dark, Grass, and Ice types.

How to evolve Eevee to Espeon or Umbreon

It's not clear whether the newer Pokemon always evolve into their nicknamed evolutions of Eevee – more than once, that is. To make sure you get either Espeon or Umbreon, you'll need to get to walking!

Espeon and Umbreon can be attained multiple times through the same means of evolution. You'll find an Eevee, make that Eevee your buddy Pokemon, and walk that buddy 10km or more. Once you're CERTAIN you've walked that far, you can evolve your Eevee to attain one or the other evolution types. Evolve Eevee at night to get Umbreon, or during the day to get Espeon!

The switchover to "night" or "day" in the game is generally marked by the look of the environment in-game. If you're in the game and it looks like it's light out, the game will likely think it's "day." To be certain, you may want to wait until around 10PM local time for night, and 11AM for day.

Pokemon GO get Glaceon and Leafeon

You're gonna need a Glacial Lure or a Mossy Lure to get these monsters in Pokemon GO. Until there's a steel or rock-type Eevee in the game, the Magnetic Lure has NO EFFECT on Eevee – as far as we know. But the Glacial Lure or Mossy Lure, you're in luck!

Just so long as you're in the radius of a Pokestop that's fitted with a Glacial Lure or Mossy Lure, your evolution will be Leafeon or Glaceon. This is slightly different from what's been reported in the past – it does not matter if you were the person to place the lure!

Apparently – and we need to test this further to be absolutely sure – you can evolve as many Eevee as you want into either Leafeon or Glaceon so long as you're inside the radius of their respective lure. Sounds pretty fancy! Stick around to see any other updates on the Eevolution of Pokemon GO in the near future!
