Updated Audi RS 4 Avant goes on sale this month

Audi has announced that it has "fine-tuned" many of the details of the slick RS 4 Avant wagon offered in Europe. The RS 4 Avant was introduced as new back in September 2017. The update sees the car get a newly designed front section and an updated interior.

Among the updates in the interior is a new MMI touch operating system for the car. The twin-turbo V6 engine under the hood of the car has 450 metric hp and 442.5 lb-ft of torque at the crank. The torque is delivered between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm.

The front of the car has a 3D honeycomb structure in gloss black that is typical of the RS models. The LED headlights of the car have been redesigned. Optional matrix LED headlights are available with darkened bezels. To set the RS 4 Avant apart from the A4 Avant, the RS version is fitted with blisters on the wheel arches that are 30 mm wider front and back.

Buyers for the car can opt for gloss black, matte aluminum, and carbon style packages. On request, the gloss black and carbon styling package can include the Audi rings and RS logo in black on front and rear. RS badges can also be omitted. An optional RS sport exhaust system gives the vehicle a distinct sound.

Audi says that the RS 4 Avant can go from 0 to 62.1 mph in 4.1 seconds. An available RS dynamic package increases the top speed from 155 mph to 174 mph. Despite the performance, the vehicle is good for 25.6 mpg fuel economy. The engine is paired with a permanent Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The car uses an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission with more power going to the rear wheels in regular driving with a 60/40 split. The system can send up to 85% of power to the rear axle or up to 70% to the front axle, depending on the grip.
